Where are child workers used in the Chocolate industry?
The children that are forced to do labour for cocoa farmers are mainly used in Ivory Coast and Ghana. There are other countries that have been reported as part of the child labour and slavery trade which are Cameroon, Benin, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Togo (1999). US State Department figures estimate that 10,000 children in the Ivory Coast are victims of slavery or human trafficking.
